Sneakers I Love and How to Wear Them

Ah, do you remember a time when sneakers weren’t considered street chic? I’m glad those days are long gone.

Cute sneakers are a 2020 wardrobe staple, and they’re so versatile that you can happily own more than one pair without feeling like a shoe addict. With spring and warmer weather on the horizon, I wanted to share my favorite kicks with you as well as some ideas on how to create your own cute sneakers outfit!

Nike Cortez

Why I love them: Nike Cortez’s are the cute Nike sneakers that we all dream of. They’re retro, and simultaneously still so modern. I own two pairs: classic black and white, and bright (almost too bright) orange with maroon suede.

How I style them: With skinny jeans or wide-leg pants. I normally choose the orange Nikes over the white ones (just because they’re in better shape) so keeping the rest of my outfit neutral allows them to take their place as a statement piece.

Low top Converse

What I love about Converse: There’s not an outfit that won’t benefit from a pair of Converse. The low top Converse I’m wearing are leather, and they’re my go-to cute white shoes. They have a cool, unique texture, plus I think they’re easier to clean since the leather is less absorbent than the traditional canvas Converse.

How I style them: My default “feeling uninspired” or “running super late” look is made up of all black (usually a sweater and old skinny jeans) and these white Converse. Throw in some polka dot socks for a little something fun.

Veja sneakers

What I love about Veja: What originally sold me on Veja is that they make sustainable sneakers. I love brands that take extra steps for the environment, and as one of the major ethical shoe brands in the world, Veja has managed to get so many people on-board the awareness train through its perfect sneakers. They’re made entirely of compostable materials and are—I kid you not—the comfiest pair of shoes I have.

How I style them: I’d venture to say that I wear my Veja sneakers at least twice a week. They dress up really well with a pink blouse and some revolution-style pants, but they look just as chic with blue jeans and a sweater.

And that’s a wrap! As always, ask me some questions and don’t be afraid to pick my brain. Discussing style with you is my favorite thing. As a little something extra, what are your favorite sneakers right now? Tell me in the comments! I’m always looking to expand my collection.

Love,
Emma
