How to style open-toed heels during winter

I usually don’t wear heels, but these Topshop ones might change that. I bought them a few weeks ago at Nordstrom Rack, because they’re the perfect 70s-style heel. I love the chunky buckles, and the heel is sturdy enough that I don’t wobble while wearing them.

I definitely didn’t want to wait until spring to wear these heels, so I put them on over a pair of grey knit tights and effectively stumbled onto my new favorite winter outfit. I’ve always hated the idea of having “summer clothes” and “winter clothes.” Even when I was little, I’d get frustrated thinking about all of the cute things in my closet that I couldn’t wear because they were only summer- or winter-appropriate. 8-year old me & modern-day me would get along so well, haha.

This outfit inspired me to reevaluate some other “summer items" in my closet. Here are some other items that I’ll be testing out:

  • shorts (with tights, of course)

  • a linen blazer (not sure how to style this one yet, so if you have any ideas, share!)

  • dresses (including a dreamy floral one that I can’t wait to share)

  • white pants (they might be the secret to a good winter wardrobe)

I started working on my resolutions for 2020. They’re all pretty general right now, but I’m hoping to make them more specific (and therefore more actionable) sometime in the next week. Do you make resolutions for the new year?
